we took a red-eye train ride to mombasa. one of the greater travelling experiences of my life. maybe only in kenya, but you could hold onto a strap (no designed for this purpose) and lean all the way out the window to see nightime kenyan countryside and the stars. oh my, the stars...a nightime world without light pollution is a beautiful world.
it was also real comfortable, with sit down dinners and lots of english friends who were from http://www.primatehandshake.org/.
30 dollars was well worth the price, even if it took about 15 hours.
a little grocery shopping and we are off to our cottage (im with three others -- the rest of the crew (somehow everyone chose the same weekend to go) is in the most resort-ey area)
