now i dont mean to say that kenya is full of polygamists, which it aint, but it has been a traditional practice in many parts of kenya and now it pops up in some interesting places.
exhibit 1: the national archives docent. we are taking a tour, and he keeps mentioning how many wives each of these important figures has. finally: "in california they say you only have 1 wife. is this true?"
"yea. isnt that true for almost all of kenya nowadays?"
knowing grin "for some"
"do you plan on having more than one wife?"
"if god blesses me so"
"how do you think your other wives will feel about that"
confused "i dont suppose they think it would be great"
